“Show me a good school and I’ll show you a great Principal.”
-Margaret Spelling
Former Secretary of Education
Catholic schools in the United States face unprecedented challenges today. The evidence is clear that nothing transforms a school like strong leaders. Now, more than ever, our schools, our nation, and our Church need exceptional leaders and the Curran Catholic School Leadership Academy (CCSLA) is designed to form Catholic school principals and leaders to fulfill this need.
Excellent Catholic education relies upon passionate and talented principals and leaders who can inspire and lead effectively. Identifying, recruiting and retaining strong, capable, visionary leaders is one of the greatest challenges facing education today. The mission of Curran Catholic School Leadership Academy is to train future Catholic school leaders in a comprehensive and cost-effective manner.
Curran Catholic School Leadership Academy offers aspiring Catholic school leaders formation experiences that enable them to develop the skills necessary to qualify and excel as Catholic school leaders, especially in inner-city schools.
Historically, Catholic schools were led by religious personnel who were trained in and focused on the mission of education. Over the past 40 years, however, the number of religious in schools has declined significantly. This decline has presented an opportunity to call forth the laity in new and exciting ways, especially with respect to school leadership.
As the role of leaders in the Church becomes more and more important, our goal is to provide Catholic schools in New York with the best leaders for the future.
